Inc. 5000 Roofing Contractor Top 100 logos

It’s been a great couple weeks at Couto Construction. The family-owned home improvement experts were named to Inc. 5000’s list of fastest-growing private companies and to Roofing Contractor’s list of Top 100 roofers. Both national awards were announced within 20 days of each other.

And to think that just five years ago, Couto Construction hired its first salesman so that co-owners Derek and Jason Couto could turn their focus to managing and growing the business they took over from their father Gil.

The brothers never thought they would reach their current level of success so quickly.

“We’re both very determined, so when we set goals, we expect to meet them,” said Jason. “But we didn’t think this amount of growth would happen so fast.”

“And we’re still pushing forward,” said Derek. “By no means are we slowing down. When we reach a goal, we set new ones.”

Couto Construction began getting national attention in 2019, when Owens Corning recognized the company at its convention for the country’s Platinum certified roofers. Derek and Jason came home with a regional MVP award and gold medals for both product and service excellence.

Later in 2019, the company was floored to be named to Remodeling Magazine’s Big 50 list, which represents the best in the industry nationwide. The leading publication in the home improvement industry has been recognizing the top 50 since 1986.

Locally, Couto Construction made the list of the top 100 contractors in New England as named by HireHaven, a site dedicated to vetting contractors for homeowners. The Coutos are two-time winners of SouthCoast Media Group’s Best of the Best, winning top prize in both roofing and siding.

“We’re flattered and humbled by awards and recognition,” said Derek. “The best recognition comes from the family you just put a roof on for. When they’re happy, we’re happy. When they trust you enough to tell a friend, that’s the best compliment we could get.”

“Awards are important, and we’re motivated by them,” said Jason. “But the reason we do this is to help our neighbors. It’s a horrible feeling to need a new roof or a home improvement and not know where to turn or who to trust. We strive to be the company you can trust.”
